Antonio Armando Carmona III (b.1999) is an Austin based visual artist whose work conveys the complexity of living in America as a 1st generation Mexican American in an expressionistic and abstract fashion.
Born in central California and raised in the Mormon religious capital of Utah. It is this upbringing consisting of the importance of nature and the curiosity of both the occult and human nature that informs his work and his way of life . He then moved to central Texas in the end of 2018 in search of new experiences, which ultimately led him to embrace his Mexican Identity.
His work examines the intersection of race, masculinity, religion, and nationalism. Through his research he aims to unpack and redefine what it means to be a proud Mexican not from Mexico all while loving the country he resides.
He will have attained a BFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2027.
