Biography

Antonio Armando Carmona III (b.1999) is an Austin based visual artist whose work exemplifies both the harmony and beauty of the ephemeral nature of life in an expressionistic and abstract fashion. He will have attained a BFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2027.

Antonio is a first generation Mexican American who was born in central California and raised in the Mormon religious capital of Utah. It is this upbringing that gave way to his appreciation of nature, the occult, and perception itself. He then moved to central Texas in the end of 2018 in search of new experiences, which ultimately led him to fall in love with his Mexican Identity.

His work examines the intersection of race, masculinity, religion, and nationalism. Through his research he aims to unpack and redefine what it means to be a Mexican not from Mexico all while loving the country he resides.

Through his practice, he aims to discover himself over and over again in a playful manner while trying to get closer to the source of creation; paradoxically, losing himself in the process.
