Antonio Carmona (b.1999)
As a Mexican-American artist, my work is an exploration of myself, through sharing stories and experiences by way of a painting or drawing. I have always had an affinity for the arts, and didn't pursue this until the Covic-19 pandemic struck and I was reunited with one of my passions. Now, I am currently attending the University of Texas at Austin in pursuit of a BFA with a focus in painting but I am open to exploring other mediums like video art, sculpture, and photography. .
I draw inspiration from the expressive brushwork of Cy Twombly, the poignant narratives of Vincent Valdez, and the whimsical yet profound characters of Yoshitomo Nara, my art navigates the delicate balance between abstraction and representation.I'm also inspired by the way light and atmosphere can transform a scene, how these elements reveal hidden layers of meaning and emotion. Masters like Rembrandt and Monet both inspire and inform my understanding of light and shadow.
I am both grateful for, and looking forward, to experiencing my works natural evolution and sharing my perspective to the world. Through my art, I aim to evoke a sense of connection and contemplation, encouraging a deeper understanding of ourselves and our shared humanity.
